In 1941, Soviet archaeologists opened the tomb of Tamerlane, a Central Asian conqueror. An inscription warned that disturbing the tomb would unleash a great calamity. Shortly after the tomb was opened, Nazi Germany launched Operation Barbarossa, invading the Soviet Union.

Some believe the timing of the invasion was a coincidence, while others see it as a fulfillment of the curse. The tomb was reburied with full honors in 1942, and shortly after, the tide of war began to turn in favor of the Soviets. This eerie tale remains a fascinating blend of history and superstition.
